I peeled off the label, and it did say “HP 17″. But I printed out a couple of color photos and they had a bunch of lines in them. That never happened with the original HP cartridges I used to get… that I can’t find anymore. So I think I wasted my money on these cartridges and have to buy a new printer.

Imitation / knockoff - not a Panasonic battery - Steve in Bozeman Montana - Bozeman, Montana, USA
Take your choice of adjective: knockoff, counterfeit, imitation…
Mine was shipped directly from China and on the back of the package you find “suitable for Panasonic cameras”. The real battery that came with my camera has the Panasonic copyright on the battery and is made in Japan.
I got stuck with an imitation once before and did not realize the difference between it and a real Panasonic battery until I was two weeks into a trip in Europe when the imitation one died … just when I had an opportunity to keep shooting and get interesting shots.
This time I trusted Amazon and the ad that said it was a Panasonic battery for Panasonic cameras. Evidently Amazon got hoodwinked as well. I left it at home and took two cameras to Europe for this year’s trip.
The battery will probably work for a few months and it’s a hassle to send it back so I don’t know if I will.
What I’d really like to do is pay for it with some counterfeit Chinese currency.

Great til it Stopped Working! - Adam Casey -
After purchasing it new, I transferred my pictures & music to the Sansa View 16GB before deploying to Iraq. After arrival in country I discovered that a buddy of mine had this same multi-media player. Within 4 months use, both of our players quit working to some degree. With mine, the player still worked but became impossible to access, add to, or remove music or picture files when the unit was connected to my computer. It also became “stuck” on certain files when not connected with the computer (i.e. not being able to delete files). With his, he had the same problem with accessing the files when connected to his computer and then the front and back of the View’s case started to separate from itself and he lost the ability to listen to his music. We both separately contacted Sansa’s customer service but they provided no practical help in either matter.
After initially loading your music or photos to this player, don’t expect to be able to make changes to the content of the unit ever again. Maybe some of these players keep working for other people, but in my experience 100% of the 16 GB Sansa Views that I have been exposed to have malfunctioned. I wasted my money on this player, and had to buy a new Sony Walkman to replace this Sandisk product that was very poorly made.

Within the first two weeks it is now showing me that half of the 16 gig of files contain “no song” although it was OK for the first week or so. I have had a couple other Sansa products and they have worked reasonably well except for the battery life. Very disappointed in this current player.

I bought this on 1/1. Liked it alot, loaded all my music. While I was walking along on 3/3, listening to Kings of Leon, it just stopped working. Splat. No rhyme or reason. Same thing happened with one I bought my daughter several mos ago. I guess you get what you pay for. iPod, here I come.

WD External 2TB Drive - DB Petersen -
We purchased two of these to do backups and so far we are very disappointed. We have not been able to use them for the intended purpose because for whatever reason, whetever computer we attach them to, sees them as a boot drive and wants to boot from them. So far, we have been un-able to clear up the problem so both drives are useless to me. Considering returning them soon if we can’t reslolve it
No Snow Leopard Support / Mac SATA Issues - Wingo -
While this drive works correctly with USB 2 and Firewire, there are issues with Snow Leopard…
Software which manages the drive’s display (e.g. shows how much free space is left on the drive), as well as permits changing the drive’s RAID mode has never been updated for Snow Leopard. The version which is still distributed by Western Digital on their web site throws errors at a rate of 10 per second with Snow Leopard. While Western Digital has had more than enough time to resolve this problem no resolution has been forthcoming, all the time marketing the drive as compatible with current Apple systems.
Another issue is related to employing the SATA interface with a Mac. In short if the drive falls asleep on its own (see countless other reviews on this point) and the host Mac system goes to sleep (manually or after a period of inactivity), the SATA interface on the drive freezes. The only recourse is to disconnect both the SATA interface cable and power cable, thus resetting the drive. This issue was raised with Western Digital in 12/09, but to date no firmware update has been forthcoming.
Thus use this drive with USB2 or Firewire, ignore the display free space feature and be prepared to setup the drive’s RAID mode on a Windows computer. If these conditions are acceptable then this drive works ok with Snow Leopard. If not, then don’t buy this drive.
One note. This drive has no fan, so it makes minimal noise. This could be a game changer for some users. In fact this is most likely the best reason to purchase the product over many other alternatives.

I ordered a WDH2Q20000N to backup everything from my internal drives. I own a 1.5 WD My Book that I store edited video files on. I am familiar with the WD My Book Product and my experience with these last two has soured my opinion.
The 2 TB drive arrived, plugged in, software was installed. The drive would not be recognized by Windows. It was DOA, lights up but does nothing. The software included has nothing to do with the drive. It is a bunch of Google Desktop type programs to take over your desktop. Turns out the drive was unformatted, the software included no programs to setup or format the drive, and the drive would not be recognized to allow formatting. Back to Amazon it went, only cost twice as much as Amazon quoted for return shipping.
The second one arrives, same results. DOA. A second return shipping cost of .XX for Amazon’s quoted .XX.
I’m going with the HP product. It’s less and has no negative reviews.

Had the camera for over a year, and it’s been awesome.
Took the camera to aquarium last week, set the ISO to 1600. The pictures were fantastic.
When I got outside, I completely forgot about the ISO setting. Took a few shots, and the CCD is now messed up. The picture has lines going across it now. The video is still good.
Unfortunately, it’s out of warranty.
I am debating on getting the same replacement or not.
Lesson learn here:
can’t expect the firmware to protect camera from extreme settings.
Make sure you set the ISO sensitivity back to auto or 200 when finished.

I got this for my girl about a year and a half ago now. Takes great wide angle pics. Outdoor pics are great. MY issue is indoor pics when using the flash. It creates lense flare that end up looking like big opaque DOTS…. most likely on your face.

I purchased this camera primarily for its wide angle capability (25mm lens). Although it is a subcompact, due to the photo quality, size of the display and the numerous (more than I’ll likely ever use) features, it appears as though it will amply satisfy my requirements.
Picture Banding - David A. Watkins - Geneso, IL USA
I have had this camera for a year and have had a banding problem with it since new. Panasonic refuses to admit that this is a common problem with their cameras. About 20% of the photos that I take with the camera will be split in half horizontally with a very visible line across the middle. The the top half of the photo will have either a magenta, green, or washed out appearance and the bottom half of the photo a contrasting magenta, green or dark appearance. I have tried all kinds of different settings indoor and out, different PC programs for display, and different SD cards. Nothing worked. It has to be a problem with the camera. The banding problem also appears on the camera LCD, so it can’t be with the PC or software as Panasonic claims.

Magellan 980895 Rugged Windshield Mount Review
This a far superior mount to the piece of junk gooseneck that came with my Magellan Roadmate 3000. The unit is too heavy for the gooseneck, but this mount seems to handle it without any problem, and absorbs the road bumps much better. I bought the item “open box” from Tech For Less. The price was reasonable, the shipping prompt and the item was in perfect shape.
